GARDEN CLUB
MEETING MINUTES January 18, 2006
President Annika M called our meeting to
order at the Redeemer Methodist
Church at 9:35am.
A quorum of members was present.

Thank you Carol M for being Hostess
Coordinator. Thank you also to Carol and the hostesses who made the
Christmas luncheon such a success.

November minutes were approved as
circulated.
Design of the Day:
Roddy R presented a wire pitcher filled with miniature silk poinsettias and
carnations.
Treasurer’s report:
Alice M reported our bank balance was $4079.64.
Unfinished Business:

New Business:
1.
Carol M reported that someone was needed to present a Design of the
Day for March; Nancy M volunteered.
2.
Annika M reported on the Kingston Town Meeting to be held February
23, 2006 at Kingston Junior High. Sharon M made a motion that KGC
participate in the Town meeting; Cathy M seconded the motion which passed
unanimously; Annika requested that someone serve as KGC’s liaison to
organize and “man” a table at the Town Meeting: Maxine H and Sharon M
volunteered.
3.
Linda M reported on the Plant Sale and clarified the roles of various
sub-committees; the Plant Sale will be held on May 6, 2006; Diane K
volunteered to chair the publicity sub-committee; Kay P will chair the
raffle sub-committee; all sub-committee chairpersons to meet at Linda’s
house on January 25th; raffle tickets will be made available to
members at the April meeting for the purpose of selling them; please have
all plants potted by April 1st to allow them to establish in
their pots before the plant sale.
4.
Sharon M reported on the Northwest Flower and Garden Show which will
be held on February 8th through 12th.

were donated by Clair D, Marilyn D and Mary Ann E.
Announcements
(Garden Club Related)
1.
Nancy M announced that Bloedel Reserve offers memberships for $40.
Annually. She described Bloedel’s upcoming lecture programs, and
recommended the guided tours and summer concerts.
2.
Sharon M announced that the March program has changed; Wendy Tweten
will speak about “Volunteers in the Garden”.
3.
Sharon M made available three hand-outs: Bess Bronstein’s Pruning
Outline, A gardening Year-at-a-glance Calendar and Build your Own Worm Bin.
Sharon also discussed catalogues, particularly seed catalogues with a
recommendation to “buddy up” for catalogue orders.
Today’s program: Megan Stoll and
Caroline Irwin of Savage Plants present “Landscaping 101”.
