MEETING MINUTES OCTOBER 16, 2006

 

 

Diann K. called our meeting to order at the Redeemer United Methodist Church 9:32 am.

 

Members Present:        32 members, 4 guests

Minutes:                          October minutes approved as circulated. 

 

Treasurer’s report:          Alice M. reported our bank balance was $3799.66

 

Unfinished Business:

1.   Thank you to Bobbi W. for Website and yearbook

2.   Teri M. has a list of those that have not received yearbooks

3.    Plant Sale & Sign-up:  Linda M. reported on extensive plans and organization.

4.    Meeting format change in January:  the speaker will begin at 9:30, business to follow.

 

New Business:

1.    Recruitment:  Bring a neighbor, find a new member.

2.    Fieldtrips:  An overnight field trip to Vancouver was discussed

3.  December Wreath Making at Bainbridge Gardens,  Wed. 11/29, 12-2pm, contact Ann I.

 

 

Design of the Day:        Sandra P. brought delightful pots of greens and baby apples.  These were donated to ways and means. 

 

Show & Tell:                Maxine H. brought Euonymus Europeans       

 

Door Prizes:                 Dawn V, Kris T, Carol H

 

Announcements:            

1.       The Christmas lunch will be December 13 at Nancy Martin’s. 10:30 meeting, 11:30 lunch.  Bring donations of toys or food.  Contact Alice M.  for sign up.

2.  The Pacific NW Horticulture Conservancy is working to save the Heronswood Gardens.

Garden Tip:                   

Slug Killer:  1/3 C. plain ammonia mixed with 2/3 C. water.  Put in spray bottle.  Spray on slugs.  Note:  also works to keep cats off kitchen counters and erases mice trails.

Maxine H. and Euonymus Europeans  AND  the yummy food!!!

 

Jan Long, floral designer for Bloedel Reserve (last 15 years) will speak on

"Let's Recycle your garden into a Holiday Arrangement". 

Jan will make 2 arrangements from native plant material. 

One will be a prize for a KGC member with the lucky sign-in number.

She will also give a demonstration of how to make Holiday potpourri

       

And the lucky winner of the giveaway was Diann!
