GARDEN CLUB
MEETING MINUTES March 15, 2006
President Annika M called our meeting to order at the Redeemer Methodist Church at 9:35am.
A quorum of members was present.

Hospitality: 
Guests today: Sonja S, Sandra S, Robert J, Sue M, Mary S, Alex and Dawn V, Kim P, Rita H and Wendy T. 
      New Members: none this month
Minutes: February minutes were approved as circulated with correction. The correction: Linda M has also volunteered to be on the award sub-committee.
Design of the Day: Nancy M presented several creative displays of Viburnum, Tulips and Alstromeria.
Treasurer’s report: Alice M reported our bank balance was $4024.36.
Unfinished Business: Discussion of the Website will be deferred to the April meeting. Please send opinions to Bobbi W and be prepared to vote in April
New Business: 
  1. Ann W thanked volunteers for their work last weekend and asked for sign ups/volunteers to help with Weeding on Arbor Day (4/1/06).
  2. Jan H gave an update on The Aloha Wright Grant Program. The Kitsap Herald ran an article and the grant application is available as an PDF file and has been sent to North Kitsap Teachers
  3. Linda M reported on the Plant Sale, She said it was being publicized on the Chamber of Commerce website. She also had a handout about pricing of plants and suggested that plants be identified with a name and a picture. Plants should be potted now!
    1. Sharon M asked for signups for the day of the sale, May 6, 2006.
    2. Kay P informed us of the raffle contributions
  4. Ann I announced the dates for Blanche Gray shows in September, reported on the generous donation of seeds from Jim McCann of Burpee seeds and asked for volunteers for sub-committee positions.
Show and Tell: 
Noel L: winter foliage, heather; Laura N, Primrose, Gold Lace; Haifa E, a small lemon tree and Bob J, his wife’s garden shoes.
Door Prizes: Hospitality awarded prizes that were donated by Laurie Y, Haifa E and Diane K.
Announcements  (Garden Club Related)
  1. Bainbridge Island home tour
  2. Earth Day is Saturday April 22 and it coordinates with the opening of the Farmers Market. Many events are planned and a shuttle will be available.
  3. Sharon M. announced that the April program: Mary Robson, a Master Gardener and celebrated author will speak about “Spring Bulbs Here and in Holland”.
  4. Erika B. of the nominating committee requested volunteers for the position of President next year. Diane K. has volunteered to be vice-president or president if a VP can be chosen.
  5. Annika reminded the committee chairpersons to provide her a job description by April 1.
